Full-scale animated T. rex highlight of new COSI exhibit
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — An upcoming exhibit at COSI will let visitors get up close and personal with the “world's most iconic dinosaur.”
In a social media post, COSI announced T. rex: The Ultimate Predator will open in November and include “one of the most scientifically accurate representations of the T. rex to date!”
COSI shared more details about the installation's offerings on its website. Attendees will be able to interact with the exhibit at different stations, including a “roar mixer” area where people can blend animal sounds to hear how the dinosaur might have sounded. A shadow theater projected on the floor will show a T. rex skeleton coming to life. And, a key highlight of the display is a full-scale animated Tyrannosaurus rex that responds to guests' movements.
Additionally, virtual tools like a CT scanner, measuring tape, and a microscope can be used with specimens such as fossil casts ranging from coprolite (fossilized feces) to a gigantic femur to learn about the research process in an “Investigation Station.”
The experience will offer fascinating details about the predator, such as how they hatched as fluffy, gangly turkey-like animals and evolved from a group of small and fast ancestors.
T. rex: The Ultimate Predator opens Nov. 2, 2024, and runs through March 2, 2025. The exhibit is included with general admission.
