Schenectady man arrested after Sunday night crash
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A pedestrian was struck and remains in critical condition following a crash on Sunday night, according to police. A Schenectady man was taken into custody after an investigation into the incident.
Around 8:05 p.m., Schenectady police officers responded to a car and pedestrian crash near Eastern and Plymouth Avenues. The pedestrian was treated at the scene and was taken to an area hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
The ensuing investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, identified as Ronald Abraham, 46, of Schenectady. Abraham faces the following charges:
- Second-degree vehicular assault
- Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated
- Resisting arrest
- Operating a motor vehicle without an inspection certificate
Members of the department's traffic division, crime scene unit and Schenectady County Crash Reconstruction team responded to the scene, police said. Schenectady Fire Department paramedics were also on the scene and treated the victim.
