Crawley Towns Fan Verdict: Loyal Royals React To A Big Win

The fans had a lot to talk about after Saturday’s 4-1 win over Crawley Town.

Saturday’s performance wasn’t great - anyone who went to the game should understand that. We got carved open at times and, on another day, it’s the visitors who go away with the 4-1 win.

But in the same breath, although I know we rode our luck at times, we popped up with some crucial, almost heroic, pieces of last-ditch defending and took all four of our goals beautifully - showing Crawley Town how to put the ball into the back of the net.

We will play better and lose games this season, that’s for sure. But it keeps our really strong home form going. Here’s how the fans reacted to the game.

Lewis Wing

We know how good this guy is in this division, but he proved it once again on Saturday afternoon. Perhaps not with his overall performance, but with a couple of moments of magic that Crawley just didn’t have an answer to.

First an absolute screamer from all of 35 yards, and then a delicious assist for Sam Smith’s goal that sealed all three points.

Where would we be without him? And the love poured in once again from the fans...

Iffy performance, big result

Iffy is probably putting it nicely, if we’re being truthful it really wasn’t that good.

Crawley found far too much space in the midfield and I thought outdid us tactically really. Time and time again they worked the ball into dangerous areas and the players couldn’t really react to it.

However, we won the game. And the fans were in a bit of two minds afterwards - they weren’t really convinced with the performing, but they were delighted with the result...

Home form

Whether we’re home or away I think we can go toe to toe with anyone in this division, but at home we seem to be turning that into results more often than not.

How many years did we go being in a soft touch at home? Some of the worst performances I’ve ever seen from this club have been at the SCL Stadium. Now, it’s the opposite, we’re so strong at home and I get excited going to home games now.

The fans enjoyed seeing the home form continue on Saturday that’s for sure...

Conclusion

A weird day really. We got played off the park at times, but showed our quality in both boxes. In the middle of the pitch we were at sixes and sevens, but we showed ruthlessness going forward, and some moments of really good defending at the back.

It was individual quality that won us the game, and we’ll need to play better than that to pick up results on a more regular basis. But a win’s a win - and you can’t sniff at four goals and three points.
