Okotoks, AB: The Vernon Vipers dropped a back-and-forth contest to the Okotoks Oilers on Sunday afternoon, falling 4-3.
Carson McGinley and Landon MacDonald each had a goal and an assist for Vernon, while Marko Stojkov added the third goal for the Vipers. Goaltender Colin Reay was solid between the pipes, making 29 saves on 33 shots.
The Vipers’ powerplay was perfect on the day, converting both of their chances to go 2-for-2. However, their penalty kill struggled, allowing 1 goal on 2 Okotoks opportunities.
Brett Wilson sealed the game for the Oilers with a powerplay goal in the 3rd period, capping off a two-point performance with an assist. Bowen Burke and Hunter Sawka also contributed two-point nights for the Oilers.
Oilers goalie Olivier Ciarlo turned aside 25 of 28 shots to secure the victory.
The Vipers will now return home to prepare for another weekend away, with upcoming games in Salmon Arm and Penticton.
