A large fire near Lania

Aerial resources have been deployed to assist in extinguishing the fire, according to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis.

“A fire has broken out south of the community of Lania, affecting the areas of Lania, Monagri, and Limnatis in the Limassol district,” he wrote in a post on X.

“The fire burned dry grass, wild vegetation, and coniferous trees. In response, three staffed fire trucks have been deployed from the Limassol district.”

He added that the forestry department is deploying five staffed fire trucks. Two firefighting aircraft also responded, bringing the total number of aerial firefighting resources to five, which includes four aircraft and one helicopter,” the post said.

Furthermore, two staffed fire trucks from the Paphos and Polis Chrysochous fire stations responded to a separate fire involving large rubbish heaps near the villages of Arodes, Ineia and Drouseia in the Paphos district, according to Kettis. This fire is currently under control.
