Eight arrests made after man attacked by mob

The police on Monday announced the arrest of eight men in connection with the assault and serious injury of a 45-year-old man in Nicosia.

The man had been attacked by a group of people in the early hours of last Thursday morning and was taken to hospital with “serious injuries” to his head and body. He remained in hospital until being discharged on Saturday.

An investigation was launched into the matter and uncovered evidence linking the eight men, who are aged between 18 and 29 years old, to the attack.

All eight people were arrested on Monday, before appearing in court later in the day. They were all remanded in custody for eight days, with the police’s investigation into the matter ongoing.
