Man arrested with large knife

Police in Paphos arrested a 49-year-old man on Saturday for carrying a prohibited knife and driving without a licence.

According to Paphos assistant police chief Michalis Nikolaou, CID officers who intercepted the 49-year-old permanent resident of Paphos, while driving, discovered a 20cm long kitchen knife and a 37cm long scalpel in his vehicle.

The man was arrested for possession of offensive instruments while it was established that he was driving without a licence, for which an out of court fine was issued.

He was charged in writing for the criminal offences and released to be summoned at a later date.
