Reports from the Parachinar area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa indicate severe shortages of food, medicine, and fuel due to the closure of the Parachinar-Peshawar road.

The road has been blocked for nine days due to ongoing armed clashes between the Sunni and Shia communities in the region.

According to reports, these sectarian clashes have resulted in significant casualties. So far, 50 people have been killed, and over 100 have been injured.

Some of the injured are in critical condition due to a lack of medicines in local hospitals, according to reports.

Efforts by tribal councils to mediate and resolve the armed conflict between the Sunni and Shia communities have not yet yielded positive results.

This is not the first time that armed clashes have erupted in the region. In August of this year, at least 35 people were killed, and 151 were injured in a dispute between two tribes over land.

Parachinar, located near Afghanistan’s border, has long been a hotspot for sectarian violence between the followers of the Shia and Sunni sects.

The ongoing violence, coupled with the severe shortages of essential supplies, has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the region.

The situation may worsen without swift intervention, leaving vulnerable communities in dire conditions.
