'Alarmingly bad at math': 78-year-old Trump slammed for saying he's 'not that close' to 80

Donald Trump, 78, on Sunday was criticized after saying at a town hall event that he is "not that close" to being 80 years old.

Trump over the weekend held a town hall in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he delivered remarks while sitting.

One comment at the event stood out to observers on X (formerly called Twitter).

"I'm not 80 and I'm not that close to 80," Trump said when criticizing President Joe Biden's age. In fact, Trump would be 80 less than half way through his term if he were elected.

Tim O'Brien, who spent massive amounts of time with Trump before writing TrumpNation: The Art of Being the Donald, said in response, "He's always been alarmingly bad at math."

Harris-Walz campaign spokesperson Sarafina Chitika asked, "Does [Trump] know how old he is?"
