Police investigate car arson in Limassol

Police said on Sunday a vehicle was severely damaged in a fire that was set in the early hours by an unknown assailant.

According to police, at around 2.30 am a 74-year-old reported a fire to his vehicle. The man told police that he had seen the assailant throwing a flaming cloth on to a flammable substance he had placed all over the vehicle.

The individual then proceeded to flee the scene. The 74-year-old called the police and fire service, who arrived at the scene and put out the blaze.

According to authorities, the vehicle was severely damaged in the incident and the cost to repair is estimated at €3,000.
