South Africa’s premier 2024 circuit racing show will be concluded at the Zwartkops Raceway

South Africa’s premier 2024 circuit racing show will be concluded at the Zwartkops Raceway near Pretoria this Saturday, with the venue to host the final rounds of the National Extreme Festival.

Heading up the programme will be two races for SA Touring Cars, where Robert Wolk (Chemical Logistics BMW 128 Ti) has already clinched the year’s title.

He will wish to end the season on a winning note, challenged by Michael van Rooyen (Gazoo Toyota Corolla), Julian van der Watt (Chemical Logistics VW Golf GTi), Saood Variawa (Gazoo Toyota Corolla), Nathi Msimanga (Gazoo Toyota Corolla), Anthony Pretorius (OMP Toyota Corolla) and Andrew Schofield (FlySafair BMW 128 Ti).

Robert Wolk (Chemical Logistics BMW 128 Ti) has already clinched this year’s SA Touring Car title, and he will wish to end on a winning note at Zwartkops this Saturday.

Jonathan Mogotsi (VW Motorsport SupaPolo) and Keegan Campos (Campos Transport SupaPolo) could both clinch the year’s  SupaHatch title.

Others who could interfere with their fight should include Tate Bishop (Angri SupaPolo),  Bradley Liebenberg (Sparco Toyota SupaHatch), Jason Campos (Turn One SupaPolo), Charl Visser (Astron Energy SupaPolo), Jean-Pierre van der Walt (Platinum Wheels SupaPolo), Karah Hill (Kalex SupaPolo) and David Franco (Graphix Supply World SupaPolo).

Keegan Campos (Campos Transport SupaPolo) will be in a position to win the season’s SupaHatch title.

Arnold Neveling (Bobcat GOSCOR Audi R8 GT3) should be the man to beat in the Dunlop Extreme Supercar races.

He will square off against Jonathan du Toit (TAR Lamborghini Huracan), Aldo Scribante (Scribante Concrete Lamborghini Huracan), Silvio Scribante (Cemza Lamborghini Huracan), Charl Joubert (A1 Bakkie Spares Lotus Elise), Gianni Giannocarro (BISC Transport Nissan Nismo GT3) and Kris Budnic (Bucketlist Dodge Viper).

The year’s Astron Energy Polo Cup should go to Jason Loosemore (Security Fencing Polo) chased by Charl Smalberger (Sabertek Polo), Pierluigi Muzzulini (FSS International Polo), Rory Atkinson (Industry Petroleum Polo), Wayne Masters (AlphaES Polo), Michael Barbaglia (VW Polo),  Tyler Robinson (AF Fans Polo) and  Nirav Singh (Kyalami Exhausts Polo).

The favourite to clinch the Astron Energy Polo Cup championship will be Jason Loosemore (Security Fencing Polo).

Jagger Robertson (Liqui Moly Mygale), KC Ensor-Smith (African Heating Mygale), Nicholas van Weely (Magnificent Paints Mygale), Ian Schofield (Investchem Mygale), Siyabonga Mankonkwana (Investchem Mygale), Evan Holtzhausen (Total Plastics Mygale), Alex Vos (DV Building Supplies Mygale) and Renzo Ribiero (Metal Used Spares Mygale) should fight for podium places in the Investchem F1600 races.

Clinton Seller (King Price Extreme ZX10) will return to the Sunbet Kawasaki ZX10 fold and he will start as the pre-event winning favourite.

He will square off against Greame van Breda (Stefanutti Stocks ZX10, Allann Jon Venter (Vault Markets ZX10), Hein McMahon (K9 Law ZX10), James Barson (Steel Monkey ZX10), Byron Rathquel (Pool Warehouse ZX10), Ian Harwood (IRP Distributors (ZX10), and Sifiso Themba (Racing ZX10).

The Gazoo Racing SA Cup events should see drivers like Sean Nurse, Hannes Visser Alex Shahini, The Citizen’s Jaco van der Merwe, Bernie Hellberg, Kumbi Mtshakazi and Riaan Esterhuizen lock horns in the Corolla class.

Dawie van der Merwe, Niko Zafiris, Ryan Naicker, Dylan Pragji and Seshaba Mashigo will fight in the GR Cup 86 category, while front runners in the GR Cup Yaris class should include Marius Claassen, Paul de Vos, Mario da Sousa, Werner Venter and Theo Brits.

Rounding out the programme will be VW Rookie Cup  races, with drivers like Josh Moore, Judd Bertholdt, Uzair Khan and Dhivyen Naidoo taking to the tarmac in identical VW Polo Vivo GT models.

The Zwartkops gates will be open from 7am, with official qualifying for most classes.

Racing proper will commence at 9.30am.

Food and drink will be on sale or you may take your own, or choose to braai on the grass banks around the circuit.

You may visit the pits on foot at any time, and the circuit’s Mini Moke taxi trains will run between the pit gate and spectator spots throughout the day.

Admission will cost R130 per adult, with kids under the age of 12 going in for free.
