A Celebration of Watchmaking: WatchTime New York’s Friday Opening Party (Photo Recap)

0

Over the last 10 years, WatchTime New York‘s Friday night opening party undoubtedly has become the “biggest night” for watch collectors in the U.S. Last night, the premier collector’s event returned to Manhattan’s Gotham Hall to kick off the ninth edition of the multi-day live event (October 18th to 20th, 2024). The show is welcoming over 35 prestigious watch brands along with countless collectors, connoisseurs, industry VIPs, influencers, and other members of the global watch community. In addition, several of the partnering watch brands have chosen the event as their global platform to launch new watches, or show them to the U.S. audience for the first time, with debuts from Ulysse Nardin, Czapek, Cyrus, G-SHOCK, Bremont, Zeitwinkel, H. Moser & Cie. X Massena LAB and Bell & Ross.

WatchTime New York 2024 also marks the 25th anniversary of WatchTime. In 1999, the magazine came on the scene giving watch collectors and industry insiders what was lacking in watch media. 25 years later, the magazine continues on, strong as ever, putting out leading print and digital content, hosting incredible shows and events, and bringing the world of watches together all the time.

As for the rest of the weekend: more watches, rare wine, incredible whiskey, and two thought-provoking panels. On Saturday, a conversation about the evolution of the watch world over the past 25 years will take place between four very unique voices in the industry. In the panel, titled “WatchTime Looks at 25: Twenty-Five Years of Watches, Collecting and Industry Lore,” award-winning actor, avid horologist and watch designer Aldis Hodge will sit down with WatchTime’s Editor-in-Chief Roger Ruegger, watch industry expert of over forty years and former WatchTime Editor-in-Chief Joe Thompson, and noted watch collector and expert, Jeffrey Kingston.

On Sunday, the panel “Vintage Collecting in 2024: Vintage and Pre-Owned in a Modern World” will take place. In it, experts will weigh in on how to start a vintage collection and what to look for when pursuing the market in 2024. The Executive Director of the Horological Society of New York, Nicholas Manousos, will moderate, with it featuring actor, director, and watch collector, Fred Savage, Global Head of Watches at Sotheby’s and founder of the acclaimed, “RollieFest,” Geoffrey Hess, and vintage watch specialist, Mike Nouveau.

Both days will have a wine / whiskey tastings with Domaine Drouhin Oregon and Wolves Whiskey in the afternoons.
