Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described the arms embargo on Israel as an effective way to stop the war.

He made these statements during a meeting with the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran, and Armenia.

Erdoğan added that the arms embargo on Israel at the United Nations would be a significant step toward halting Israel’s actions, and Turkey would continue to advocate for this issue.

These remarks come in the wake of the killing of Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, who was shot by Israeli soldiers last Wednesday in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.

Israel confirmed his death on Thursday, and Hamas also acknowledged Sinwar’s death on Friday.

It is worth mentioning that Yahya Sinwar considered the mastermind behind Hamas’s attacks on Israel, had long been pursued seriously by Israeli forces, and his death triggered widespread reactions around the world.

Previously, Erdoğan had referred to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “butcher of Gaza” and compared him to Adolf Hitler of Nazi Germany.

Moreover, the U.S. government had previously warned Israel to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza, stating that if the situation did not change, the U.S. government would have to end the provision of arms and military assistance to Israel based on policies related to compliance with international norms.

Erdoğan’s strong stance against Israel’s military actions and his call for an arms embargo reflect Turkey’s commitment to advocating for peace in the region.

The recent developments surrounding Yahya Sinwar’s death have heightened tensions, prompting global responses and calls for humanitarian support in Gaza. As the international community watches closely, the dynamics between these nations will significantly impact the future of peace efforts in the region.
