Rhamondre Stevenson Update Should Excite Patriots Fans

Rhamondre Stevenson had not practiced in two weeks, but he was back on the field Friday two days before the Patriots’ London matchup.

Stevenson suffered a foot injury in New England’s loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 5. He missed last week’s loss to the Houston Texans, and after a promising update from Jerod Mayo, the running back was seen during the media portion of practice.

The 26-year-old told reporters Friday his foot flared up a day after the Dolphins game, per the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed. Stevenson didn’t feel like he’d miss the Jacksonville Jaguars matchup, though.

“I’m feeling good right now. I had to take a couple of days off,” Stevenson told reporters, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “I feel like I should be ready to play Sunday.”

His return will be needed for a Patriots team that desperately needs a win. Stevenson’s presence should also stabilize the run game, which will help Drake Maye in his second career start.

It’s unknown as of early afternoon how the Patriots will designate Stevenson on the injury report. There didn’t seem to be any restrictions during the media portion of practice. The early optimism also should mean the running back will suit up Sunday without any worry.
