No. 29 Razorbacks race in loaded Wisconsin Pre-Nationals

MADISON, Wisconsin – No. 29 Arkansas will be one of 20 nationally ranked women’s teams in the seeded 6,000m race that starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.

Among a field of 30 teams, the women’s race will include six of the top 10 programs with No. 1 Northern Arizona, No. 2 BYU, No. 3 Washington, No. 4 Notre Dame, No. 5 NC State, and No. 8 Stanford. Teams are limited to eight runners in the seeded race.

Additional nationally ranked teams include No. 11 Florida, No. 13 Wisconsin, No. 14 Furman, No. 15 Tennessee, No. 17 New Mexico, No. 19 Oklahoma State, No. 22 Ole Miss, No. 23 Syracuse, No. 24 Boston College, No. 25 Minnesota, No. 27 Lipscomb, No. 28 West Virginia, and No. 30 Michigan State.

Other teams entered in the women’s seeded race include Connecticut, Florida State, Harvard, Iowa State, Liberty, Louisville, Michigan, Texas, Toledo, Tulane, Utah Valley, Wake Forest, and Wyoming.

A year ago Paityn Noe placed third in the Pre-Nationals race held in Virginia, and led the Razorbacks to a runner-up team finish behind BYU, while teammates Sydney Thorvaldson and Mia Cochran finished sixth and 15th.

Recently, Cochran and Noe finished 1-2 in the Chile Pepper Festival on Arkansas’ home course at Agri Park while posting the same time of 15:56.3 over a 5k course, equal third fastest ever on the course.

Thorvaldson didn’t race in the Chile Pepper meet as UA placed third in team scoring behind Texas and LSU.

Razorbacks scheduled to compete with Noe and Cochran on Saturday include Mackenzie Rogers, Tiana LoStracco, Ruby Little, Morgan Kirkland, Chachi Gonzales, and Olivia Pielemeier.

For fans attending this year’s Wisconsin Pre-Nationals, an admission ticket is $20, which includes a shuttle ride, and a parking permit is $5. One parking permit is required per vehicle and an admission ticket is required for each individual riding the bus.
