Missing vessel from Israel found in Cyprus waters

A sailing boat from Israel reported missing was found during a Cyprus search and rescue operation mobilised the police, the army and the British bases.

The crew members are well.

The search and rescue coordination centre said that its Larnaca station received a message at 9.20am on Friday that a sailing boat that sailed from Herzliya marina in Israel destined for Larnaca marina was delayed by 14 hours.

The search and rescue centre, in coordination with the Haifa centre, set up an operation involving helicopters from the police, the National Guard and the British bases, vessels from the port and marine police, and commercial ships in the area.

Air support from Haifa’s search and rescue centre joined the operation, in line with bilateral agreements.

The sailing boat was found at 8.20pm with both people on board reported to be in good health.
