The Nation's Weather for Saturday, October 19, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
There can be heavy, drenching thunderstorms in southeastern
Colorado today that can lead to flooding. Across the Four
Corners states, high-elevation snow will continue to impact
areas above 8,000 feet, and wet snowflakes can mix in with
rain above 6,000 feet. Showers and a heavy thunderstorm can
occur in eastern New Mexico and West Texas. Across much of
the Plains, Midwest, South and East, dry weather will
continue for a great start to the weekend for many. In
places across the Great Lakes, Appalachians and portions of
the Northeast, these conditions will be great for
leaf-peeping where foliage is at or near peak. Along the
Southeast coast from Savannah, Georgia, to Key West, a
strong, persistent onshore flow can lead to ongoing king
tides, coastal flooding, rough surf and rip currents.
