Steph Curry out for Warriors preseason finale
Golden State’s superstar will miss his second preseason game.
We’ll have to wait until next week’s Golden State Warriors season opener to see Steph Curry in action again. A few hours before the team’s Friday night preseason finale against the Los Angeles lakers, the Warriors announced that Curry will not play in the game, after spraining his right index finger in practice. It’s the same finger that Curry had injured during the team’s third preseason game, and which likely factored into Curry resting for their fourth game.
Thankfully, coach Steve Kerr doesn’t seem concerned, and said Curry will be fine for the first game of the season.

It’s the same finger that he previously hurt, but Steve Kerr says Steph will be fine for the regular-season opener
Since it’s just a preseason game, it makes since for the Dubs to be very careful with their star player. Still, Curry resting will have some consequences. It’s a game where Kerr was likely to handle it as a dress rehearsal, where players would get something approximating the minutes they’ll see when the season begins. And perhaps even more importantly, the Warriors coach was hoping to get another look at the ultra-big lineup that the Dubs rolled out on Tuesday, when they beat the Lakers 111-97.
According to the Bay Area News Group’s Danny Emerman, there will be a domino effect with Curry’s absence, and Golden State will likely play the game more like an early-preseason contest, rather than a late-preseason one.
Curry’s injury changes the way Warriors will approach the preseason finale. Draymond Green will likely play just the first half. Minutes will be scaled back. Team wanted to see Curry and the jumbo lineup once more but won’t get to after all.

The large starting lineup, however, will stay in place, with De’Anthony Melton taking Curry’s place alongside Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, Draymond Green, and Trayce Jackson-Davis.
