Fans of club football will be able to breathe a sigh of relief next month as the final round of international matches for 2024 are staged.

The November international break will pause the 2024/25 domestic season for the third time, which will leave many supporters feeling frustrated.

However, the breaks are a necessary inconvenience as international football remains an integral part of the annual calendar worldwide.

With that in mind, read on we look at five matches we believe will be well worth watching during the November 2024 international break.

Greece vs England – Nations League – November 14

England are the bookmakers’ favourites to finish top of their Nations League group despite suffering a 2-0 defeat at home to Greece last month.

They will need to match or better that scoreline in the reverse fixture to keep their hopes alive and it would be a brave move to bet on them achieving the feat.

Greece fully deserved their victory at Wembley Stadium and are guaranteed to be an extremely tough nut to crack on home soil.

Odds of 7/4 for Greece to top the group look exceptional value given they have yet to drop a point during this Nations League campaign.

Slovenia vs Norway – Nations League – November 14

Austria’s 5-1 home victory over Norway coupled with Slovenia’s 1-0 win in Kazakhstan set up a thrilling finish to Nations League Group B3.

Norway, Austria and Slovenia are locked together on seven points with two games to play and any one of them could still earn promotion to League A.

Austria play Kazakhstan (A) and Slovenia (H) next month and should top the group. If they do, Norway and Slovenia would be in a state of jeopardy.

Their game on November 14 will likely determine which team secures a promotion play-off place and which one of them faces a relegation play-off showdown.

Netherlands vs Hungary – Nations League – November 16

A place in the Nations League quarter-finals will be on the line when the Netherlands and Hungary go head-to-head on November 16.

Logic suggests this should be a walk in the park for the home side, who have taken four points from a possible six on their own patch in Group A3.

Hungary have not beaten the Netherlands since October 1984, but their performance in the reverse victory gives them hope of changing the narrative.

The Netherlands were poor on their most recent outing against Germany and would be well advised not to take Hungary lightly next month.

England vs Republic of Ireland – Nations League – November 17

This will be England’s final game under interim manager Lee Carsley before former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel takes permanent charge in January.

The Three Lions could still be in with a chance of topping the group if they triumph in Greece, which would add an exciting dimension to their home game against the Republic of Ireland.

Although the Irish have a remote chance of progressing to the promotion play-offs, they will be eager to make life difficult for England.

Carsley should sign off his temporary stint in charge of the Three Lions with a victory before handing over control to Tuchel.

Brazil vs Uruguay – World Cup Qualifying – November 20

Brazil and Uruguay are both on course to book a spot the 2026 World Cup despite producing several under-par performances in the CONMEBOL qualifiers.

Their clash on November 20 will likely determine which one of them has a more comfortable end to the lengthy qualification process.

Uruguay triumphed 2-0 in the reverse fixture in October 2023, but have failed to record a victory in their last four qualifying games.

By contrast, Brazil have won their last two matches after a sticky run of form and will be keen to continue in the same vein next month.
