Shaker seeks to unseat CBA in battle of unbeatens
LATHAM, NY (NEWS10) -- After back-to-back years with three losses in league play, the Shaker football team has put Class AA back on notice. Not only are they unbeaten at 6-0, they've outscored their opponents 245-49. But Friday night, they'll take on the back-to-back-to-back champs in the class, CBA, in our 1st & 10 Game of the Week.
Both teams enter the game unbeaten. With only two more weeks to go after Friday night's clash, this game will go a long way in deciding the number one seed entering sectionals.
While you can argue this is Shaker's biggest regular season matchup in years, the Blue Bison are keeping things in perspective. "We look at it as a great opportunity for us," said Shaker head coach Greg Sheeler. "Both teams are 6-0 and a lot of hard work has gone into getting to this point and we're extremely proud of where we are. It's a big opportunity for us, but we also know it's not the end of the season. People have this game a little bit blown out of proportion as far as like the big picture things. We know that whether we win or lose, we've got a lot of work to do for the rest of the season."
"I definitely think that this is one of the biggest games we've been up against and a great opponent," said senior running back and defensive back Jake Smith. "We know that ultimately it's not the deciding factor for our season, but you know, it's important to get that one seed."
Highlights and reactions from that game will lead off 1st & 10, which airs at after college football FOX and at 11 on ABC.
