Negasi Zuberi found guilty on all counts in cinder block cell kidnapping trial

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Negasi Zuberi has been found guilty of multiple criminal charges in a federal trial after he kidnapped and sexually assaulted two women, locking one of the victims in in a cinderblock cell in his Klamath Falls home in 2023, authorities said.

On Friday, a federal jury in Oregon found Zuberi guilty of kidnapping, transporting a victim for criminal sexual activity and illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The trial began on Oct. 7.

On Sept. 21 2023, a Klamath County grand jury indicted 29-year-old Zuberi on 10 felony charges and one Class A misdemeanor including first-degree rape, sodomy and kidnapping with a firearm.

In February 2024, Zuberi was indicted on addition charges that include two counts of kidnapping, transportation for criminal sexual activity, two counts of felon in possession of firearm and ammunition, two counts of felon in possession of ammunition and one count of attempted escape.

Federal prosecutors said one of his victims was a woman from Seattle whom he kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and drove across state lines to hold her in a makeshift prison in his Klamath Falls home in July 2023.

According to the FBI, Zuberi has lived in 10 states over the past 10 years and is linked to at least four sexual assaults in four of those states.
