Debuting at WatchTime New York 2024: G-SHOCK Full Metal GMCB2100
We are 24 hours away from the start of WatchTime New York 2024 (Sunday tickets still available, here), and returning this year in a classic sporty fashion is fan favorite G-SHOCK. This time around, the brand will showcase its latest expansion of its popular Full Metal collection in the new GMCB2100. The new watch continues the 2100’s line growing metal production run, bringing further into the brand’s catalogue a beloved “CasiOak” look in steel.
Housed in a 51.3 by 46.3 octagonal case, the watch wears boldly on the wrist at 12.4 mm in height. Embodying the classic silhouette of the OG 2100 series, the case is aptly produced in all metal, eschewing the brand’s signature resin for an elevated full steel jacket.
Like in all previous Full Metal models by G-SHOCK, attention to detail shines through the watch, particularly in the multi-faceted finishing on the case and bracelet. The bezel and case undergo precise forging, cutting, and polishing to create the signature G-SHOCK look, while the metal bracelet features a blend of hairline and mirror finishes, referencing the textured dimpling of early G-SHOCK models. The result is a watch that stands out with a refined edge, while still upholding the brand’s well-established ethos of toughness.
Durability remains a cornerstone of G-SHOCK’s design philosophy, and the Full Metal 2100 is no exception. The watch’s shock-resistant structure includes fine resin components that buffer between the bezel and case to absorb impacts. Water resistance is rated to 200 meters, ensuring the timepiece is more than capable of withstanding any wear you have to throw at it.
The dial of the new GMCB2100 is available in two options, including a classic black option or another with a more modern light blue vapor deposition treatment. Like earlier editions of the 2100 series, the new models use vertical chronograph configuration with all analog details. The polished hands and indices add to its sense of depth and dimension, while the octagonal screw-lock crown used to adjust the running time complements the non-digital display.
The watch incorporates a host of practical features, including solar power, a Super Illuminator LED light, and smartphone connectivity through G-SHOCK’s Smartphone Link technology. Additional functions of the watch include dual time, a stopwatch, a countdown timer, a daily alarm, and a power-saving function.
The G-SHOCK Full Metal 2100 models will be available for purchase starting tomorrow, with a retail price of $800.
