Car restriction at Paphos harbour impedes fishermen’s work
Professional fishermen in Kato Paphos complained on Friday that restricted car access to the harbour has is making their work difficult.
President of the fishing association, Leonidas Leonidou, said that the fishermen must be able to drive up to the docks and park near their boats.
The association sent a letter to Agriculture Minister Maria Panayiotou, but no answer has been received to date, Leonidou told the Cyprus News Agency.
Leonidou added that in the winter season during inclement weather, it is particularly important for the fishermen to have their vehicles within easy access from their boats.
The fishermen recommended installation of a remote control system at the harbour gate, to permit fishermen to enter and exit for work purposes.
They have requested an immediate meeting with the minister to discuss the problem.
