Ozaki and Villamor to fight for WBO regional title!
Earlier today the Taisei Boxing Gym held a press conference at its gym in Sanda, Hyogo Prefecture, to announce their next show, which we now know will be "Taisei Shinsei RST Joint Event, Nan'ei Shoji Co., Ltd. Presents: From Sanda to the World", and will be held at the EDION Arena Osaka on December 14th.
The full details of the under-card weren’t disclosed, though any of the notable under-card fights were revealed. However the main talking point was the main event, which will see a new WBO Asia Pacific Light Flyweight champion being crowned, as Yuga Ozaki (7-0-1, 5) [尾崎優日] will take on Archiel Villamor (8-0, 4) in a battle of unbeatens to fill a vacancy left by Jayson Vayson (13-1-1, 7).
Ozaki, ranked #7, and Villamor, ranked #12, have been told their rankings will increase to #1 and #2 respectively, allowing them to fight for the vacant title.
At the press conference Ozaki, the WBC Youth champion, explained "My opponent is a southpaw who moves his feet a lot, and he watches his opponents movements carefully before throwing punches with all his might." Before adding "His body often moves after he finishes punching, so that's the key point."
Regarding his year, Ozaki explained "I started 2024 with the goal of winning my second belt, and the WBO-AP title fight has been decided as my last match of the year. I'll prepare a lot of tricks and win by KO! I'll get my second belt!"
Others set for the show, though their opponents haven't been named, are 23 year old Shinsei Otani (9-2, 6) [大谷 新星 ], 26 year old Takahiro Tai (7-1, 7) [田井 宜広] and 25 year old Shunpei Odagiri (4-1, 2) [小田切 駿平]
