‘Does anything really matter?’ CNN host cracks up panel with nihilist reaction to Trump

A CNN panel discussion on the state of the presidential race with just 19 days before Election Day saw some levity Thursday night when CNN’s Anderson Cooper brought himself – and his panel of four guests – to laughter when he jokingly asked: “Really, does anything really matter?”

The moment came after the host of “Anderson Cooper 360” played a clip for the panel of Donald Trump being interviewed for a podcast, where he brings up Harris’ race.

“Later in the podcast, Trump said Harris is Black, but, ‘a lot of people didn't know,’" Cooper said as he set up his next question.

“I mean again, is this all just baked in? I mean, does anything…does anything matter anymore?" he asked his guests while chuckling.

“Really, does anything really matter? Cooper again emphasized as his panelists gave in to laughter. “I don’t even remember what my question was.”

Erin Perrine, former Trump 2020 director of press communications, laughed as she said, "Let's have a little hope in our nation."

“I feel you Anderson, I feel you,” replied Democratic strategist Ashley Allison.

Perrine, still laughing, told Cooper, "Don't be so sad!"

She then took the opportunity to answer Cooper’s question directly.

“A lot of this – it is baked in,” she said. “But the reality is the American people fully understand what they’re getting with Donald Trump – they’ve been seeing this for over a decade, almost a decade now.”

“That’s true,” Cooper said.
