Man fatally shot in Auburn Gresham

A man was fatally shot Thursday morning in Auburn Gresham on the South Side.

Just before 8 a.m., Marquise Smith, 32, was in the 8600 block of South Morgan Street when two gunmen approached and opened fire, striking him in his chest and other parts of his body, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.

Smith was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead.

The shooters got into a blue vehicle and fled north, officials said.

No one was in custody.
