Debuting at WatchTime New York 2024: Ulysse Nardin Freak One Navy Blue

0

Reflecting both the brand’s history as the maker of refined marine chronometers and its disruptive force at the forefront of contemporary watchmaking, Ulysse Nardin presents the new Freak One Navy Blue, a core piece of the collection in a seductive deep indigo, at this year’s WatchTime New York. Taking place from October 18 to October 20, 2024 at Gotham Hall in Manhattan, this prestigious watch exhibition showcases sophisticated timepieces from 35 luxury brands, offering enthusiasts a chance to explore and experience the latest in horology.

The newcomer echoes the basic characteristics of the Freak One: a 44mm titanium case finished in satinized black DLC and a forged carbonium bezel. Carbonium is a low carbon impact material with an unusually high strength-to-weight ratio, which Ulysse Nardin introduced in 2019. The case is water-resistant to 30 meters.

As an integral part of the Freak collection, the design defies convention with no hands, instead using the tip of the flying carousel caliber UN-240 Manufacture movement to indicate the minutes and a blue rotating disc with an engraved sunray pattern to indicate the hours. Its oversized silicon oscillator and balance spring add to the visual spectacle, while the escapement wheel and anchor–the beating heart of the watch–are coated with DiamonSil, another pioneering material patented by Ulysse Nardin in 2009 that combines silicon and synthetic diamond for added resistance and durability.

The Freak One Navy Blue features Ulysse Nardin’s innovative and highly efficient Grinder automatic winding system, which recharges the watch to its maximum 90 hour power reserve. The setting device is recessed into the case back.

The Freak One Navy Blue is supplied with two rubber straps and retails for $66,800 (VAT excluded).
