“Justice sees everyone equally”: Supreme Court unveils new 'Lady Justice' statue symbolising modern Indian legal ideals

In a significant move reflecting India’s departure from its colonial past, the Supreme Court has unveiled a redesigned 'Lady Justice' statue, removing the blindfold and replacing the sword with the Constitution. This transformation, initiated by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, signifies the judiciary’s commitment to equality under constitutional law. The new statue, installed in the judges' library of the Supreme Court, symbolizes that Indian law is not blind but sees everyone equally, ensuring justice in accordance with the Constitution.
