Only one former Rays players - Nate Lowe - is represented, which is the only Rays relevant notes I can give you here among the nominees.

And nowhere to be seen? Rays 2024 center fielder Jose Siri.

There are three primary metrics we can use to see the numbers respect Siri’s glove, even if the voters did not, starting with Statcast’s Fielding Run Value (15 runs), where he ranked in the Top-5 in baseball.

Of note: one man above him on that list was also not nominated, Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong (16 runs). Both players had ~1,000 innings logged in center field this season, which is enough to be considered an every-day player at the position.

By the metric Outs Above Average, again Siri ranked in the top-5 with a score of 16, with the only outfielder ranked higher being DC’s Jacob Young (20 OAA).

And by Defensive Runs Saved, Siri again scores well, placed in the Top-10 in baseball with 12 DRS, again tied with Crow-Armstrong. The only outfielder above them on that list is Boston right fielder Wilyer Abreu.

Siri even ranked in the top-three AL Center Fielders on SABR’s SDI list, which is supposed to inform the voting process.

To some extent these awards are a popularity contest, but to not even be nominated after dominating the stat sheets is frustrating after a strong season from Siri in CF.
