These days, all of the major streamers are looking to cash in on the popularity NFL.
And Hulu is taking a novel approach by offering fans more than just the action on the field.
Deadline reported today that the streamer is developing a scripted series set in the world of professional football.
The project will be the third Hulu series with Dan Fogelman attached as executive producer.
The untitled show is described by Deadline as “a multi-generational family drama.”
Details are scarce at the moment, but it seems that the “sprawling” storyline will center primarily on the NFL.
Fogelman has reportedly worked out a deal to collaborate with the league.
He took a similar approach for the beloved but short-lived 2016 Fox baseball drama Pitch.
Fogelman is already an EP on Only Murders in the Building, which is currently in its fourth season at Hulu.
He’s also developing a thriller series titled Paradise.

That show stars Sterling K. Brown, an alum of Fogelman’s most successful series, the NBC family drama This Is Us.
Obviously, Fogelman fans are thrilled that his new project is being described as “a multi-generational family saga.”
The phrase delivers major This Is Us vibes, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a more beloved show from this century.
Obviously, as a sports drama, the new show might be a little more niche than the Pittsburgh-set tearjerker.
Although it’s worth noting that football played a significant role in the world of This Is Us.
The Pearsons were big-time Steelers fans.
For his part, Fogelman has been rooting for the New York Giants since childhood.
Interestingly, the founding families of those two families, the Rooneys and the Maras were joined by marriage in the early ’80s.
That couple raised four kids, two of whom went on to become actresses: Kate and — you guessed it! — Rooney Mara.
We’re not saying that either of those teams will be involved in Fogelman’s new show, or that he should offer roles to the Mara sisters.
