11-year-old killed in Calcasieu Parish ATV crash
SULPHUR, La. (KLFY) -- An 11-year-old was killed Monday after the ATV he was riding on flipped and crashed in Sulphur, authorities said.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded at approximately 11 a.m. Monday to a report of a crash in the 900 block of Armentor Road in Sulphur. Investigators said two juveniles were operating a Polaris RZR when it tipped over, and the 11-year-old passenger was partially ejected.
Deputies performed first aid on the child prior to his being transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the ATV was not physically injured, officials said.
The investigation is continuing, but authorities said foul play or criminal activity is not suspected, and the death appears to be accidental.
