Book Review: Cop cold case unit pursues a rapist, foils a terrorist plot and tackles a 1947 murder
The LAPD’s Open-Unsolved Unit pursues the two-decades-old Pillowcase Rapist case and tackles the legendary Black Dahlia murder in “The Waiting,” the new Ballard and Bosch thriller by Michael Connelly. Along the way, Renee Ballard’s search for a man who broke into her car and stole her badge and gun uncovers a terrifying terrorist plot. Associated Press reviewer Bruce DeSilva says the suspenseful plot lines unfold at a torrid pace, and as usual in a Connelly novel, the prose is tight and the characters are compelling and well-drawn. This is the habitually best-selling author at the top of his game.
