Is Zion Williamson About To Take The Next Step?

Former Duke star Zion Williamson has long been acknowledged as an extraordinary talent. There’s never been anyone like him: at 6-6 and 281, though probably less than that now, and an exquisite combination of power, agility and a very high basketball IQ, Williamson presents many problems for defenders.

That hasn’t always been matched with an intense desire to keep himself in supreme physical condition, but he seems to have figured that out now.

An experienced NBA player now, Williamson, like most successful players, has begun to diversify his game.

Already the only guy we can think of who can play both point guard and center, Williamson has had a serious weakness in his game: shooting.

No one can really stop him around the basket, but outside of that narrow area, his shooting has been anemic.

Well, it looks like he may be about to make a leap there too.

Check out this clip of Williamson hitting a pull-up jumper from the foul line. It’s not that big of a deal in one sense: most players can hit a shot like that. But Williamson, by his own admission, has not been comfortable with his shot. It’s not a confident move, or at least hasn’t been.

He certainly looks fluid and confident in this clip.

It’ll take a while to see how confident he is and if he can sustain success. If he can, however, he was a pain in the tuchus before and he could get to the basket without trouble. Now though?

If you have to respect his jump shot, well, you can just about forget laying off of him. ]

If he can stay healthy, Williamson has a chance at an absolutely massive season.
