Medical equipment worth €60,000 was on Tuesday donated to the paediatric clinic of Makarios hospital by the Australian Hellenic Medical Charity and the Cypriot community of Adelaide.

The donation includes diagnostic sets, mostly ophthalmological, as well as vital signs and blood pressure monitors.

The donation is intended to support the hospital’s efforts to provide care to children and their families, enhancing the quality of health services offered at the facility.

During the handover ceremony, Health Minister Michalis Damianou highlighted the significance of the contribution, adding that “it symbolised solidarity and a commitment to improving healthcare in Cyprus”.

He stressed that the equipment would be vital in assisting healthcare professionals in delivering the best possible care to their young patients.

The minister also expressed his gratitude to the donors, particularly acknowledging Andreas Evdokiou, a senior member of the Australian Hellenic Medical Charity and president of the Cypriot community of Adelaide, for his instrumental role in making the donation possible.

Damianou commended Evdokiou’s dedication to connecting the Cypriot diaspora with their homeland, saying that the gesture demonstrated a deep commitment to Cyprus and its people.
