Former scout thinks Spurs will have major competition to sign 18-year-old target
Former Spurs scout Mick Brown has made a claim about Tyler Dibling that could have a big impact on Tottenham’s reported pursuit of the Southampton starlet.
Explodes onto the scene
Within a space of just a few months, Dibling has gone from a completely unknown quantity to one of the most sought-after youngsters in the Premier League.
The 18-year-old has not looked back since breaking into the Southampton starting eleven earlier this season, being one of the few bright sparks in what has been a disastrous start to the campaign for the Saints.
It was reported by GiveMeSport last month that the teenager had caught the eye of Spurs, who were plotting a move for him in 2025.
Competition likely to be intense
Industry insider Mick Brown, who has previously worked as a scout for the likes of Tottenham, Manchester United and Aston Villa, believes that there is going to be a feeding frenzy for Dibling’s services in the near future.
He revealed that many clubs across the Premier League are now watching the Southampton academy graduate and will be ready to pounce if Russel Martin’s men go down this season.
When asked about Dibling, Brown told Football Insider: “There’s definitely going to be interest in him. Everybody I speak to speaks very highly of him so we’ll see if any clubs act on their interest. The major clubs in this country are always looking at clubs that might be going down and if they’ve got players who might become available.
“They’ll be looking at the young players at all of the struggling clubs and wondering whether they could snatch one if they go down. You can bet your life there’ll be interest from all of the big clubs who will be watching him closely.
“The same would be the case for any 18-year-old breaking into the first-team and doing well despite his club struggling. But I’m told clubs are definitely watching him and they’ll be considering making a move next summer.”
Tottenham in need of a winger
With Dejan Kulusevski now seeming to have permanently moved into the number eight role, Ange Postecoglou may decide to add another wide player to his squad in January.
The Australian might view Dibling as an ideal option to serve as Brennan Johnson’s understudy and perhaps push the Wales international for the right-wing birth.
