If you were alive in the 1980s, then chances are you remember the It-couple of the mid-80s: Tom Cruise and Rebecca De Mornay. Many thought the Risky Business stars would go the distance; however, their romance ended mysteriously, and since then, we’ve only gotten details about their affair here and there. And now, DeMornay gave another rare detail.
In a recent interview with The Independent entitled: Rebecca De Mornay: ‘There are violent predators in Hollywood that I won’t work with,’ De Mornay revealed that it wasn’t just a steamy affair, it was love.
“We were so in love,” she said to the outlet. “…the movie was a big smash, and I remember just feeling – wow, it’s just going to go on like this!”
She also talked about how fame completely changed their lives, saying, “Tom and I were together when the movie came out and we had photographers jumping out of bushes.”
For those who don’t know, Cruise and De Mornay dated from 1982 to 1985. Their former Risky Business co-star Curtis Armstrong’s book Revenge of the Nerd alleged the two had an “intense affair,” despite her being linked to linked to Harry Dean Stanton.
DeMornay later confirmed the affair in an interview with Celebrity Page in 2018. She said, “He came to grow on me because we wound up together for two and a half years after that film.” But as she just said, it wasn’t just a steamy, sexual affair, it was love, as well.
Now, it’s unclear why they split up, but quite soon after they split up, Cruise dated Patti Scialfa; and even allegedly had an affair with Cher during their relationship.
