Fans Think One of Taylor Swift’s Exes Album Timeline Is Actually an Easter Egg for Her Next Music Release
October 18 is a big day for Taylor Swift, who has been enjoying Travis Kelce’s bye week from the Kansas City Chiefs, going on double dates with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. The 18th marks the beginning of the rest of Swift’s Eras tour, and some Swifties are convinced that one of her exe’s album release timeline — which was recently bumped from Oct. 18 to November — is a hint that she isn’t just going to restart the Eras tour, but drop Reputation: Taylor’s Version.
This isn’t the first Easter egg eagle-eyed fans have spotted from Swift in regards to the release of Reputation: Taylor’s Version. Shortly after the VMAs, she wore a “12” necklace while out on the town with Gigi Hadid, which some fans took to signal ‘TS12,’ AKA her twelfth album, was on the way. Combined with the snakeskin detailing of her boots, fans took it as a sign she would release the last of her “Taylor’s Version” albums in the near future.
Since then, she has worn several outfits featuring snake motifs, such as the gold Annie’s Ibiza corset and skirt she donned on her recent date night with Kelce, further fueling the TSRep speculation.
And now, Joe Jonas — who, for those who don’t recall, briefly dated Swift in 2008 and broke up with her over a 25-second phone call that she detailed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show — is postponing his first solo album in over 10 years, Music for People Who Believe in Love. (For the record, the two have made amends and been supportive friends for some time). Shawn Mendes, who collaborated with Swift on “Lover,” has postponed the release of his new album, Shawn, by a month.
Two singers close to Swift, who have been heavily promoting their work — especially Jonas — are suddenly delaying their projects from that specific date. Coupled with her website’s recent redesign, typically signaling a major release, and the Eras Tour resuming on the 18th, some fans believe it makes perfect sense for her to release her latest Taylor’s Version.
Many Swifties admit they might be “clowning,” piecing together clues and Easter eggs from scattered celebrity blind items and promotional strategies. Some fans on Reddit even speculated that another one of Swift’s exes, Harry Styles, might have influenced Mendes and Jonas to delay their releases. Styles was reportedly recording a new album back in March, and it would make sense for the others to avoid competing with him.
The 18th might simply signify the beginning of the end of Swift’s Eras Tour. As to whether or not fans will finally get one of the last Taylor’s Versions on Friday, only time will tell.
