Wynne Evans supported by new girlfriend Liz after he’s forced to apologise for awkward Katya Jones moment
WYNNE Evans’ new girlfriend showed her support for him last night after he was forced to apologise for his behaviour with Katya Jones.
His new love, Liz Brookes, shared a snap of them cosying up after his performance and gushed: “So proud of this one tonight.”
Her comment came after his pro partner, Katya, appeared to grimace as he grabbed her waist.
Fans were left concerned after the dancer pushed the Go Compare opera singer’s hand away during the live episode.
And in a second toe-curling moment, Katya snubbed him when he went in for a high-five.
The duo later shared an awkward apology video, and insisted it was an “in joke”.
Wynne added: “We were just messing around. We really are amazing friends.”
The pair’s banter came after the BBC series was engulfed in a series of scandals – though there is no suggestion Katya and Wynne’s joke was inappropriate.
The findings of a probe into former Strictly professional Giovanni’s Pernice’s behaviour were published earlier this month.
The report upheld six out of 17 allegations against pro dancer Giovanni, 33.
Earlier this month The Sun told how Wynne is dating events manager and fitness fan Liz, 50.
Wynne has previously said that the split from his wife of 16 years, Tanwen — the mum of his two kids — left him clinically depressed and he ballooned to 22 stone.
Now he has lost six stone thanks to going for runs with Liz, who has been seen in the Strictly audience on a few occasions.
A source said: “Wynne and Liz met at an event and are taking things slow, but he’s excited about where the relationship might go. He is in a much better place now than when his marriage ended.
“It’s like night and day — and he is so happy.”
