Man, 72, killed in UWS apartment fire: NYPD
UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) – A 72-year-old man died after a fire at an Upper West Side residence Saturday night, according to the NYPD.
The blaze broke out around 8:15 p.m. on the fourth floor of a building on 88th Street between Amsterdam Avenue and Broadway, fire officials said. It took about an hour to control the fire, officials said.
The man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, and later pronounced dead, police said.
Three firefighters had minor injuries after the fire, according to the FDNY.
The cause and origin of the fire are not immediately known.
