TE Cole Kmet forced into action after Bears lose long snapper Scott Daly to injury

0

LONDON — The Bears are down to their emergency long snapper — tight end Cole Kmet — after Scott Daly hurt his knee covering a punt in the first quarter Sunday.

Daly spent several minutes on the ground before walking gingerly to the sideline, where he was evaluated in the blue medical tent and quickly ruled out with a knee injury.

Teams do not carry more than one long snapper. The Bears turned to their emergency long snapper — starting tight end Cole Kmet. He snapped for the first time in the NFL after scoring a touchdown, too. In the second quarter, he caught a 31-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Caleb Williams, stayed on the field and snapped the ball for a made extra point.

Daly has been the Bears’ long snapper all season after Patrick Scales, their stalwart at the position, needed back surgery during training camp. The Bears have a bye after the Jaguars game — and time to figure out what to do next.

Kmet also is handling long snapper duty after Scott Daly left the game with a knee injury.
It’ll be the Bears’ first time facing Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Pryor and the Panthers’ Jaycee Horn were ejected.
