Match Preview: Queen’s Park v Aberdeen – 13 Oct 24

0

Queen's Park host Aberdeen for the first time this season, with a vital three points up for grabs in the Scottish Power WPL 1 relegation zone battle.

The Spiders currently sit a place away from safety, sitting behind Montrose only on goal difference. Aberdeen are one point behind Craig Joyce’s side meaning a victory could send them out of the bottom three.

The Dons will be in search of a positive result having only won one of their opening nine matches, meanwhile Queen’s Park will also be looking for the three points and a positive result in a return to league action after a cup loss to Hibernian and a week without a match.

A win in Sunday’s match and a loss for Montrose could see Queen’s Park jump up to eighth and out of the bottom three. On facing Aberdeen, Craig Joyce said: “We are all raring to go again. The free weekend last week was a welcome break in terms of extra time to prepare for Aberdeen as well as another week of recovery for those carrying knocks, but at the same time, we all want to be out there playing.

“We come into Sunday’s fixture after a run of really difficult games, however, the girls have kept going through them and despite the results, there are encouraging moments that we can use as our platform for the match against Aberdeen. They themselves will be up for the match so we know we have to be at it from the first whistle”.
