New Delhi: Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons, passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday night at the Breach Candy Hospital in the city. Bollywood celebrities, political party leaders, and business tycoons including Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani paid their respects to veteran industrialist Ratan Tata.

Following the passing of veteran industrialist Ratan Tata, Pakistani singer Zoheb Hassan shared an intriguing connection between Tata and the iconic music album Young Tarang, which was immensely popular in the 1980s. In his Instagram post, Hassan highlighted that Ratan Tata played a significant role in the creation of the album, indicating his influence in promoting arts and culture.

Hassan recalled receiving an unexpected call from Ratan Tata, who invited him and his wife to record an album for CBS India, a music company. At the time, Hassan had no idea who Tata was. A few days later, Tata visited him in person, and Hassan was surprised to meet an impeccably dressed, soft-spoken man with a gentle smile. During the meeting, they discussed the project in detail. It was only later that Hassan discovered the true identity of the man behind the offer—none other than the industrialist Ratan Tata himself, leaving him astonished by Tata’s humility and unassuming nature.

“On Friday a tall, impeccably dressed man in a suit arrived at our residence. He had a gentle smile on his face and was extremely soft spoken. He seemed so sincere when he spoke. We had no idea who he was and he never bragged about himself. He just said “if you guys agree then let’s make it happen. I will get someone to get in touch with you regarding the agreement. Make sure you get a lawyer and your parents to look at the agreement. If you don’t agree with anything speak to me directly,” Zoheb Hassan in a post wrote.

“The rest is history and we produced the #YoungTarang album with possibly the first music videos #India and #SouthAsia had ever seen. This was around the time #MTV had just launched in #usa . MTV called us and said they had never seen anything like this and asked if we had done anything in #english. #Doordarshan played the music videos in India and the album outsold even #DiscoDewane,” the post further reads.
The post added, “After the launch of the album he invited Nazia and I to his residence for dinner. We thought he probably lived in a palace. When we reached we were taken aback that the most powerful industrialist of India lived in such a humble abode. A small 2 bed flat sparsely decorated. We met his sister, one servant and an #alsatian whom he loved dearly. It was a simple dinner with a great man which to this day I will never forget.”
“Mr. Tata was living proof that one can be an iconic #businessman and still be a true #gentleman. Dearly missed. RIP,” the post further read.
