Baba Siddique shot dead, his last social media post has gone viral, it was….

Baba Siddique, former Maharashtra minister and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader known for his grand iftar parties which were thronged by famous Bollywood celebrities, was shot dead in Mumbai on Saturday night,  Siddique, 66, was waylaid by three men at Kher Nagar, just outside his son’s office at around 9.30 pm on Saturday and shot at. He was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, in his last social media post, Baba Siddique had wished his followers on X (former Twitter) a ‘Happy Dussehra’. “Happy Dussehra Everyone. May this Dussehra bring you all happiness, peace and prosperity,” Siddique had wrote in the post which has now gone viral.

Earlier, the Siddique, who left the Congress last year to join Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction had also paid tributes to Tata Group Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata, who passed away at a Mumbai hospital on October 9 (Wednesday).

Following Baba Siddique’s shocking murder, the opposition Congress attacked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led NDA government in Maharashtra, asserting that the former minister’s killing was a serious indictment of the “crumbling” law and order situation in the state and demanded a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident.

In a post on X, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the tragic demise of Siddique is shocking beyond words. “In this hour of grief, I offer my deepest condolences to his family, friends and supporters,” he said.

“Justice must be ensured, and the present Maharashtra Govt must order a thorough and transparent investigation. The culprits must be brought to book at the earliest. Accountability is paramount,” Kharge said.

Congress general secretary in-charge organisation K C Venugopal said, “Shocked, stunned and outraged at the killing of Baba Siddique ji. Siddique ji served the people with dedication and worked hard to preserve communal harmony. His passing away is a massive loss to the people of Mumbai and Maharashtra.”

Two assailants have been arrested by the Mumbai Police in connection with Siddique’s murder.
