Lived here in Jamaica for the past 15 years. Would disagree that the JLP equate to the Convertives. Both JLP and PNP came out of the Bustermante Trades Union movement. Would agree about the tribal nature of Politics here though. Wife's family are PNP and never have any Green (JLP's colours) in the house. You tend to be born into one of the respective Parties and nothing will ever change that. Shame is that as Bob Marley recognised people will always put Party before Country. One Love eh!
