Ten Hag has already hinted who will start at right-back vs Brentford with Mazraoui absent
Manchester United went winless for the fifth game running following a goalless draw against Aston Villa in the Premier League last weekend.
Noussair Mazraoui was surprisingly substituted at the half-time interval at Villa Park. Victor Lindelof came off the bench to replace him at right-back.
Mazraoui was experiencing heart palpitations during the game and it has since been confirmed that the Moroccan has undergone a minor procedure.
The 26-year-old is likely to be sidelined for the rest of the month at least.
United will host Brentford in the Premier League next weekend and in our opinion, manager Erik ten Hag has already hinted who could replace Mazraoui.
The Dutchman had the option to play Diogo Dalot at right-back in the second half at Villa with Lisandro Martinez on the left, but he chose to go with Lindelof.
Martinez was an unused substitute and he was not involved for Argentina either this week.
According to Argentine journalist Esteban Edul (via Metro), the central defender has a ‘physical concern’ that is ‘not leaving him in a good shape’.
It is unknown whether Martinez will be involved against Bolivia on Wednesday morning (UK time).
With the short turnaround time before Saturday’s game, we would be surprised if Martinez is considered to start, given his ongoing physical issues.
Keeping this in mind, Lindelof looks set to get the nod on the right side of the defence with Dalot continuing from the left-back role again.
It is most likely that Matthijs de Ligt and Jonny Evans will start in central defence against the Bees with Martinez doubtful and Harry Maguire injured.
Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw won’t be available against Thomas Frank’s side. Tyrell Malacia has been in team training, but may only make the bench after a long-term knee injury.
