“Will I be sold or not?”: Rishabh Pant teases fans in viral IPL auction tweet
Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant made a strong comeback to international cricket earlier this year. He first played a pivotal role in India’s T20 World Cup triumph before marking a return to Test cricket with a fabulous century against Bangladesh to help India on their way to victory in the first Test.
Pant suffered a life-threatening car accident in December 2022 and was out of action for more than a year. He first made a return to cricket with the IPL 2024 season where he captained the Delhi Capitals (DC) before getting selected in the Indian squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Known to be active on social media, Pant surprised fans with a random post past midnight. Taking to X, he wrote, “If go to the auction. will I be sold or not and for how much ??”
Pant has registered 3284 runs in 111 IPL matches, at a strike rate of 148.93. He has registered a ton and 18 half-centuries in his IPL career so far.
In particular, DC fans will be hoping that their franchise retrain Pant, as he is the skipper. He hasn’t played for any other team since his IPL debut.
It is still not confirmed whether Pant will be retained by the Delhi-based franchise or not. With the IPL mega auction reportedly set to be held in November, it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
