Celeb hurricane relief: Taylor Swift donates $5 million, Tom Brady gives $100,000

Taylor Swift and Tom Brady are among the famous faces helping those impacted by deadly Hurricanes Milton and Helene.

Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida Wednesday evening as a Category 3 storm and by Thursday morning, triggered dozens of tornadoes and left at least four dead. Gov. Ron DeSantis said the state is anticipating additional casualties. Nearly 230 have so far been confirmed dead after Helene’s wrath.

Feeding America thanked the Grammy winner, 34, for donating $5 million to relief efforts as the organization encouraged others to donate what they could.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift for her generous $5 million donation to Hurricanes Helene and Milton relief efforts,” said Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of the food bank network, in a statement tweeted and shared on Instagram.

“This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover, providing essential food, clean water, and supplies to people affected by these devastating storms. … Thank you, Taylor, for standing with us in the movement to end hunger and for helping communities in need.”

Swift did not post about the donation on any of her social media accounts.

Brady, 47, shared on his Instagram Story Thursday morning that he would donate $100,000 “to help get essentials like food, water and first aid to fellow Floridians in need.”

The former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback added that food delivery company Gopuff would match his donations made via Give With Gopuff, all of which will go towards the Volunteer Florida foundation. Gopuff also said it will match product donations up to $1 million.

“Keep those impacted by these storms in your prayers, look out for your neighbors, and continue to help out anyway you’re able,” said the seven-time Super Bowl champ. “Stay safe, and stay strong Florida.”

Other celebrities donating toward hurricane relief include, Metallica and country singers Dolly Parton and Morgan Wallen.

Last week, Parton and Wallen said they were donating $1 million and $500,000, respectively, to efforts in their native Tennessee. Wallen’s self-titled foundation also reportedly teamed up with the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee to raise money and collect food for Helene victims.

Metallica on Friday announced its All Within My Hands Foundation was donating $50,000 each to World Central Kitchen and Team Rubicon “to aid in first-response efforts.”

Concert for Carolina, set for Oct. 26, will bring together Luke Combs, Eric Church, Billy Strings, James Taylor, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Bailey Zimmerman and more to benefit Helene relief efforts in the Carolina region. Tickets went on sale Thursday morning.
