Tottenham star says he wants to improve every aspect of his game – ‘I’m rubbish’
The most successful athletes in the world are never satisfied and constantly strive to become better versions of themselves – and that is exactly what one Spurs star is aiming to do.
Postecoglou won’t accept anything below 100%
If Ange Postecoglou has made one thing clear since joining Tottenham Hotspur, it’s that players are expected to give 100% to his tactics and his system.
The Spurs boss has tended to invest his transfer funds in hard-working players or youngsters will high potential rather than big-name superstars.
That certainly seems to be paying off on the pitch, with the likes of Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray, Brennan Johnson, James Maddison and co having bright starts to the season.
Pedro Porro says he is rubbish
One talented player who is determined to get even better is Tottenham’s Pedro Porro. While he is already arguably one of the best right-backs in the league, he wants to reach the heights of people like Dani Carvajal and Jesus Navas.
On duty with Spain this week, Porro told MaisFutebol: “I always look at everything. I get up every morning to improve, I’m a player who always wants more and who takes care of the smallest detail. We don’t have to get stuck on what we do well.
“I’m a very sincere player, who tells things as they are. I still have a lot to improve, I’m 25 years old.
“I look at the careers of Jesús Navas and Dani Carvajal and say: I’m rubbish. It’s true! If people talk to me about the careers they had, I say: well, I’m on the right track. May I be like them one day, because they are my idols.”
Is Porro the best right-back in England?
It’s hard to compare someone like Pedro Porro with a player like Ben White because, although they are both described as right-backs, they play entirely different positions.
Porro is probably most comparable to Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool and you could make a good argument for those two being the most talented right-backs in the Premier League right now.
