Journalist advises Antonio Conte not to sign Tottenham player for Napoli

Antonio Conte is thought to be considering raiding his former club, but the Napoli boss has been told he would be better off singing someone more experienced than the Spurs defender he’s been targeting.

Radu Dragusin is too young for Napoli

Napoli have become a fairly formidable outfit under Antonio Conte this season, and currently find themselves at the top of the Serie A table at the international break.

Conte is expected to add to his squad in the forthcoming January transfer window, and it is thought he is setting his sights on landing a new centre-back to strengthen his defensive line.

However, any suggestion Napoli will make a move for Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin has been played down by journalist Enrico Fedele (via Area Napoli), who insists the Romanian is not the right fit for the Italian side and that they should look at Sergio Ramos instead.

Fedele said: “Would I think about Radu Dragusin, who plays little at Tottenham? Too young, I would go for someone experienced.

“Who? It’s a former Real Madrid: Sergio Ramos. Hasn’t played for months? He would come to bring his character traits; he would do like Burgnich of the past. In Napoli, I don’t see charismatic players, like Reina and Albiol could have been in the past, for example.”

Is Dragusin happy at Spurs?

Dragusin signed for Spurs in January, and has found his game time rather limited due to the fact Ange Postecoglou prefers the pairing of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven in the centre of defence.

That said, the 22-year-old did start the game against Qarabag in the Europa League last month, but was sent off after just seven minutes.

Still, despite rumours linking him away from Tottenham, there is no official word from the player that he is at all unhappy at the club, and he did sign for Spurs knowing he would have to fight for his place in the team.

Dragusin is going nowhere

I cannot see Dragusin even thinking about asking for a move away from Spurs. He has simply not done enough to displace Romero and van de Ven yet, but his chances will come this season as Tottenham (hopefully) advance in the various cup competitions.

If he is patient and committed, he will get opportunities and he will relish the competitive nature of the squad at Tottenham.
