States sue TikTok, says platform is addictive and harms children

WASHINGTON, D.C.: More than a dozen U.S. states and Washington, D.C., have filed lawsuits against TikTok, accusing the platform of harming children's mental health by designing its app to be addictive.

The lawsuits stem from a national investigation launched in March 2022, led by a bipartisan coalition of state attorneys general, including those from New York, California, and New Jersey.
